Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD Council PTA

GENTLY USED BOOK SALE
 Thanks for the Memories!

The end has come to the amazing run of the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD Council PTA Gently Used Book Sale. During the past 14 years, with YOUR help, we:

  • Collected 1,052,668 books
  • Had $537,473 in sales
  • Volunteered 28,790 on-site hours (one man-year is about 2000 hours...) This does not include the countless hours PTA volunteers spent on their campus sorting books to be delivered, or the hours spent by the Committee working on logistics (site selection, finances, marketing, coordinating, etc.)
And over the past 14 years, Council PTA used those funds for:
  • Student Scholarships
  • Teacher Classroom Grants
  • Student Enrichment Grants
  • PTA Program Grants
  • PTA Training Grants
  • Profit Sharing back to the Local PTAs
  • Local PTA Training, Support & Outreach
  • Council Board Training & Enrichment
  • Back the Future Rallies
  • Life Member Receptions
  • Reflections Awards Ceremonies
  • President/Principal Luncheons
  • Post Prom support for Creekview, Newman Smith, Ranchview & R.L. Turner High Schools
  • Gift to the CFBISD Libraries of $20,000
What to do with books you've collected for the sale? There are multiple organizations in our community that are in need of books - assisted living centers, children's hospitals and senior homes to mention a few - please reach out to them with your generous donations!

Thank you to all of you - PTAs and individuals and CFBISD administration & community - who have collected books, volunteered your time and promoted and shopped the sale. We couldn't have done it without you!!

WHAT IS CUMULATIVE VOTING?

The voting system used to elect School Board Members in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch School District is changing. For the May 7, 2016 election, Board Members will be elected using a cumulative voting system. In a cumulative voting system, voters can cast as many votes as there are seats up for election, including multiple votes for the same candidate.

    PTA
    : BACKING A BETTER FUTURE

    OUR FOUNDATION

We are the state’s largest grassroots association with over 500,000 members – parents, teachers and others with a special interest in children, youth, families and schools. Our mission is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children. Our members are leaders and advocates for the children of Texas, with access to valuable programs, resources and a voice at the Texas Capitol.

    OUR FUTURE

With advocacy at our core, we are committed to building education and taking a comprehensive approach to community success.

With back-to-school upon us, the door is reopened for conversations about what PTA stands for and how families, teachers, students and others can be involved. It’s an exciting time, and we are taking the opportunity to rally the community with a brand-new campaign.

We will make this time of year about more than new backpacks and new classrooms, rather by inspiring and inviting community members and leaders to back the future.

Successful students are everyone’s business, and successful schools build successful communities. And we know there is no commYOUnity without YOU, so to speak – “YOU” being our members, our future members, community leaders and communities at large.

We are inviting not only families, teachers and students, but community members of all walks of life to “Back The Future” by becoming a PTA member and joining in the celebration of the start of the 2015-2016 school year.
